Winter is Coming!

... Here are some tips on getting your lawn ready for next season.

Lower your mower blades progressively until your last cut is short. This will allow leaves to keep blowing off the lawn and willl also green up the lawn faster next season. Tall, dry grass in the spring insulates the soil and root system from the warming sun. A short cut will allow the sun to heat up the root system and get your lawn greened up and growing earlier.  When doing your final cuts, please do not mulch the leaves in- they contribute to acidic soil conditions when mulched into the turf.

Winter is also a great time to get your lawnmower serviced! Having the oil changed and blades sharpened in the winter will help avoid having to rush or postpone maintenance in the spring.
